Cypress Fairbanks, or more fondly known as Cy-Fair, is one of the largest communities in Northwest Houston. Cy-Fair encompasses 186 square miles and includes Cypress and the city of Jersey Village. This expansive area is located along U.S. Highway 290 (Northwest Freeway) twenty miles (32 km) northwest of Downtown Houston. Cypress is an unincorporated community in Harris County, Texas, United States located completely inside the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Houston. The Cypress area is located along U.S. Highway 290 is twenty-four miles northwest of Downtown Houston. The Cypress urban cluster ranks 50th in the top 100 highest-income urban areas in the United States.

Two major freeways are found in the Cy-Fair area – U.S. 290 and State Highway 249, serving as the area’s major links with Houston. The Sam Houston Tollway serves as a major connection to areas located both east and south of Cy-Fair.
Cypress Fairbanks ISD continues to grow by approximately 1,000 students each year, and is expected to surpass 116,000 students enrolled in 2017-2018. The district is the third-largest in the state and 22nd-largest in the nation. CFISD’s multicultural population represents a rich ethnic diversity throughout the community.

Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District is the third largest in the State of Texas. At this year’s H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards last 6th of May, they were named the best large school district in Texas. It has 27 preschools, 15 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 4 high-schools, one university and a couple of special needs schools. Within their area, they even have 3 public libraries that offer thousands of books catering to any age level and varying fields of interest.

They put high level priority when it comes to education, where they hope to provide easy access towards public libraries and continuous education in any form. Some classes are genuinely fun, tending towards environmental activities like bird-watching, fishing, boating and many more. Their student to teacher ratio is only at 15:1.
